Winter lead offer

Sesimbra is a fishing town. This winter, our lead offer is onboard sport fishing aboard Black Flag (~7.5 m) — a private boat exclusive to your group, with WC and sundeck. We tailor the trip to species, tide and sea conditions: douradas in the cold season, cuttlefish, squid, plus pargos, sargos and mixed species.
More than 20 years at sea. We were the first fishermen to mark fishing grounds (marcações de pesqueiros) — traditional fishing for cuttlefish (chocos) and squid (lulas), using old techniques, and deep knowledge of the fishing grounds.
One of our most sought-after trips. Winter highlight off Sesimbra. Trips shaped for the cold season, with a local skipper picking grounds for the day.
Ideal for… anglers who want the classic douradas season.
Traditional fishing, often drifting, in calmer waters. Accessible and fun technique for mixed groups.
Ideal for… families and first-time boat anglers.
Sessions typically timed for suitable conditions. We match the group’s pace and the day’s weather.
Ideal for… anglers who like active fishing and flexible timing.
Bottom fishing in selected offshore grounds — more demanding, with natural baits when the coast allows.
Ideal for… experienced anglers targeting bottom species.
Possible, depending on tide, depth and conditions — not promised targets: black seabream (choupa), besugo, bica, horse mackerel, conger; on deeper grounds (up to ~150 m, as the day allows) blackspot seabream (goraz) or other demersals may also appear. Always indicative.
Ideal for… groups happy with variety and whatever the day brings.
Typical catches
Verified photos of Sesimbra / Arrábida coast species. In winter the primary focus is douradas (Nov–Jan), cuttlefish (chocos) and squid (lulas). Pargo, sargo and seabass join as the day allows. Other species appear only under Mixed / other (possible, not promised).
Beyond the winter focus, on the Sesimbra / Arrábida coast (coastal grounds and up to ~150 m, conditions allowing) these may appear, with no guarantee: black seabream (choupa, Spondyliosoma cantharus), besugo, bica, horse mackerel, conger (safio, Conger conger), forkbeard (abrótea); on deeper grounds, occasionally blackspot seabream (goraz, Pagellus bogaraveo) or other demersals. Always confirm with the skipper — the sea decides.
Species calendar
Indicative guide for Sesimbra / Arrábida. Winter focus (dourada, cuttlefish, squid) is highlighted; other rows are usual or possible. Seasons shift with year, grounds and sea state.
No catch guarantees — the sea decides — but with local knowledge of grounds and season. Separate from Snorkel (observation only, no fishing).
Not a RIB. Black Flag (~7.5 m) has a WC and sundeck — more comfort for trips of up to 6 hours than a typical rigid inflatable. Private boat just for your group.
Licences
In mainland Portugal, anyone fishing from a boat needs the recreational boat-fishing licence issued by DGRM. The daily licence costs about €5 (monthly and annual options also exist). Buy it at an ATM (Multibanco, Portuguese card), at DGRM/DRAP counters, or online via the BMar portal (foreigners and non-residents, with a few days’ notice). Many operators buy prepaid daily licences for guests — ask on WhatsApp when booking. Observation-only trips (no fishing) do not need a licence.
Note: rules, prices and purchase channels can change. Always check the official information: www.dgrm.pt.
